Associations and heritage on the internet

    10:40 AM le Tuesday September 23rd, 2008

One important factor to consider while analyzing citizen participation is the affiliation of the users to pressure groups. I read an article from Bérénice Waty on the subject of their online presence, in the heritage preservation case. Here are some thoughts about it.

In the CFPRH case, it will be necessary to allow users to identify themselves to their organisations in order to insure transparency. The idea is to make sure the participants have all the relevant information about the others taking part in the discussion in order to generate well though out judgments on the propositions. Of course, it is impossible to force citizen to unveil their allegiances, but some mechanisms could encourage them to do so.

The CFPRH meets at the SSAC’s conference

    10:38 AM le Tuesday September 23rd, 2008

Members of the Canadian Forum for Public Research on Heritage will take the most of the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada’s conference to meet and discuss the future of this forum, this weekend in Yellowknife.

    Agrandir le plan

We will expose our short and long term objectives so members could provide their comments, suggestions and ideas in order to build a useful community which aims at combining experts, professionals, decision makers and citizens inputs to best serve the research around heritage.

Furthermore, we will take advantage of the congress to publish on this blog updates about the conferences we are attending and to show pictures of the attendees, the conferences, and of what we expect to be a beautiful city. The publication of these updates will depend on how easy it is to access the internet from the conference.

We are looking forward to meet you there…

Welcome to the Canadian Forum for Public Research on Heritage new website.

This website is temporary and should change a lot in the near future.

For now, we will try to keep you posted about the development of this site using this blog. Also, news around the CFPRH’s workshops will be published as the foundation of an heritage observatory.

If you have any comments or suggestions, do not hesitate to contact us using this online form.
