The National Post has a story about the oldest baseball field which could be located in Canada :
A controversial Canadian claim that the world’s oldest baseball field can be found in London, Ont., remains “in limbo” pending an American challenge and a final ruling by Guinness World Records, says a city heritage official leading the bid for international recognition.

Ottawa council comittee just voted to designate the Mayfair Theatre, built in 1932, as a heritage building.
The 1932 building on Bank Street south of the Rideau Canal was described at city council’s planning and environment committee as one of only two “atmospheric” theatres still operating in Canada; theatres designed with interiors to create an illusion that movie-goers are in another space.

“Heritage groups hope the new national trust will include an endowment fund and rehabilitation tax incentive, both of which could stimulate private donations and investment.”

A movie theatre built in Old Ottawa South in 1932 should be declared a heritage building.
The Mayfair Theatre on Bank Street near Euclid Avenue is the only movie theatre in the city built before the Second World War and the last operating neighbourhood theatre.
If city council agrees with the recommendation made Tuesday by the planning and environment committee, when it holds a vote on Oct. 8, the theatre’s owners would not be allowed to damage, alter or tear it down under the Ontario Heritage Act.
